When Someone is Beinh Hurt

This is how other kids have felt when their parents have been fighting:

When my parents fight I get very upset and start to cry.

I get tired after my parents fight because I have to look after my little sister all the time.

Their fighting makes me Very angry.

I always worry that the fighting is my fault.

I am so frustrated that I can't do anything to stop it.

I don't understand why they fight, it's confusing.

Feeling scared

Are you feeling scared or confused? You are not alone!

It is normal to feel many different emotions when bad things happen. It is OK to feel like this! When bad things happen to other kids they go through many different feelings too.

Abuse and Domestic Violence or Family Violence are always wrong and it's NEVER your fault! You are not to blame for something someone else has done wrong. When this happens in your home, it is important to stay safe.

Don't believe if someone tells you that bad things might happen if you tell someone about the violence and abuse.

There are things you can do and people you can talk with who can help you to feel safe again

This is how some children feel when someone hurts them:

I feel frightened and sad all the time.

I just want my family to be normal.

My stomach and head hurt all the time.

I sometimes have nightmares at night.

I have difficulty concentrating at school.

I don't want to go to basketball practice anymore.

I want to run away from home.

I sometimes wet the bed.

I get really angry and want to hurt myself.
